ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation: Your 12–18 Month Roadmap

By Shakeel Hussain Khan, CEO & Co-Founder, Provex Labs · October 7, 2026

A common misconception is that a new lab "inherits" accreditation from an established operator. It does not. ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation is site-specific and earned by each laboratory through documented competence. Provex Labs is built around that reality: our system codifies the methodology our co-founder Sajjad Mir developed over 23 years building labs at HASTEST Solutions (a separate company), so franchisees follow a proven roadmap toward their own accreditation.

The Phases

1) Quality management system implementation — SOPs, document control, calibration records. 2) Method validation and staff competency sign-off. 3) Internal audit and management review. 4) Accreditation-body assessment and corrective actions. Most franchisees should plan 12–18 months from opening.

Revenue Before the Certificate

Many customers accept non-accredited testing initially, and testing demand mandated by JEDEC, MIL-STD, IEC and similar standards continues regardless. The roadmap sequences revenue first, accreditation in parallel — not as a gate to opening.

What a Franchisor Should Provide

Documented SOPs, audit preparation, internal-audit support, and coaches who have actually passed assessments. That is the experience Sajjad brings personally to Provex, and governance oversight is led by our CEO, a former Head of Internal Audit.
